About the Dance Program

At FCHS, students may enroll in Dance Education Levels 1–6. Each level is designed to meet students where they are and challenge them to grow in a number of ways through dance and life..

In dance classes, students will:

• Explore a variety of dance styles
• Learn about the history and culture of these styles
• Participate in student choreography projects
• Gain exposure to college and career pathways in the arts and beyond
• Strengthen financial literacy and life skills through dance
• Demonstrate 21st century college and career skills
• Have the opportunity to perform inside and outside of the classroom

By the time students complete the program, they will have:

• Grown in confidence, technique, and self-expression
• Expanded their knowledge of dance, history, and culture
• Improved stage presence and performance quality
• Built leadership and collaboration

Opportunities Beyond the Classroom

Students can further their involvement in dance through:

✨ FCHS Dance Company

• Seniors who complete requirements earn a graduation cord

✨ National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA)

• Juniors and seniors may apply for induction
• Inducted members will receive an honor cord and recognition in the graduation program

✨ D.A.N.C.E. Society Club

• Open to all interested students during school-day club time
• Focuses on growth, learning choreography, building leadership, and exploring creativity
